Taught English and Latin for 12 years after college, later becoming an adjunct professor of remedial writing. Switching careers, worked in a publishing house for seven years, editing a wide range of scholarly journals in the social sciences. Went on my own as a freelance editor in 1986 and have specialized ever since in articles and books in the fields of jazz and education.
