GENERAL NOTES ABOUT GETTING FROM THE AIRPORTS TO THE WESTIN:

  1. RENTAL CAR – For most people, if you are coming in groups, it will probably be cheaper if you rent a car or van and divide it up among several people.  You’ll save time AND money.  [Directions given above.]
    1. From Newark – it should take about 45-50 minutes. During rush hours it will probably take 1 hour to 1 ¼ hour.
    2. From Philadelphia – it should take about 1 hour. During rush hours it could take up to 1 1/2 hours.

  1. SHUTTLE SERVICES (based on a single person) were ridiculous – hundreds of dollars – most of the shuttles turned out to be car services (using limos, SUVs or vans).

BY TRAIN BETWEEN NEWARK AIRPORT AND PRINCETON JUNCTION

The least expensive and easiest way (aside from renting a car) to get to the Westin from Newark is to take a NJ Transit train.

You take the AirTran train (which leaves every few minutes) from the airport to the Newark Airport NJ Transit train station.  Allow 15 minutes for picking up the AirTran train and arriving at the Newark Airport NJ Transit train station.

From the Newark Airport NJ Transit train station you take the train to the Princeton Junction stop.  On weekdays the train leaves about every half hour.  On Saturday the trains mostly leave every hour, sometimes 30 minutes apart, but not like on weekdays.  It takes about an hour to get to Princeton Junction. (Timing depends on whether it is a local or an express train.)

The cost is $17.25 per person in each direction ($10.65 senior/child).

Total travel time will be between 1 ¼ hours to 2 hours depending on when you catch the various trains.

On Sunday from Princeton Junction back to Newark Airport NJ Transit train station the trains leave about every 45 minutes.

You still need to allow 15 minutes for the AirTran train to get you from Newark Airport NJ Transit train station back to the airport.

We suggest you allow more time to go back to the airport because the trains run less frequently on weekends.

BY TRAIN BETWEEN PHILADELPHIA AIRPORT AND PRINCETON JUNCTION

This is much more complicated.

The Septa Airport Line leaves about every half hour from each terminal and takes 20 minutes to get to 30th Street Station. Cost = $6.75 one way.

Septa leaves from 30th Street Station about every half hour and takes 1 hour to get to Trenton. Cost = $9.25 one way.

NJ Transit leaves Trenton every 10 -20 minutes and takes 15 minutes to get to Princeton Junction Train Station.  Cost = $5.00 one way.

The total cost is $21 per person in each direction ($10.65 senior/child).

Total travel time will be between 1 ¼ hours to 2 hours depending on when you catch the various trains.

On Sunday from Princeton Junction back to Philadelphia Airport, the NJ Transit train leaves from Princeton Junction every half hour to 45 minutes.  It will still 15 minutes to get to the Trenton Station.

From Trenton Septa leaves every hour about 10 minutes before the hour and will take about 45-50 minutes to get back to 30th Street Station.

From 30th Street Station Septa leaves every half hour (on the hour and half) and takes about 20 minutes to get back to your terminal.

We suggest you allow more time to go back to the airport because the trains run less frequently on weekends.

BETWEEN THE PRINCETON JUNCTION TRAIN STATION AND THE WESTIN

Taxis tend to be expensive.  Take an Uber or Lyft.  It should be about $20.  But you should check when you get to the station.
